A Creation Story

Some blog names are pretty self explanatory, like Becca's Byline.  Others, like Patchwork Reflections have thoughtfully explained their name on site. But most blog names are curiosities.  What are their stories?  My friend Jen at Blog In A Cyber Bottle  asked me to write about how I came to call my blog "Spatter".

"Spatter" was actually first used as the title to a collection of my poetry because what I write feels and looks like spatter to me...spurts of inspiration. As noted in a previous post, my thoughts perk up from within to find voice and I put them down quickly before they get lost.  Click here and here to read more about my writing style.

I decided to start a blog as an outlet to rekindle my creative juices. It's a medium that has space for all: poetry, prose, commentary, photography, whatever.  The name "Spatter" seemed to fit..."to come forth in drops and small splashes."  Each day is a new splash of creativity manifested in some form.

So, that's the creation story of "Spatter", Jen.  Now for my part in the meme, I think I'd like to know the story behind  Lucky Pennies from Ariel and Going Crunchy from Shannon.

Thanks June! I enjoy your creative musings very much and I am so glad you stopped by my blog to say hello. Now I can share your "splashes" too!

(Spatter is what I do with paint so I am happy to know that it might be interpreted as creative lol!!)

I've really been enjoying your creative "spatters" :)

A very clever concept for a blog name, I think.

I love your title and the definition/pronunciation underneath. Thanks for the story behind the title. Looking forward to following the spatter pattern of your thoughts and inspiration. I wonder if/how your blog content and feel will change once you leave the mountains?

I've been thinking on that too Susan. While I won't have the flavor of Floyd to talk about, I'm hoping that my inner eye will provide inspiration. Look for a few more rants though :-)
