Back On Track

Since I wrote about my computer woes, I think it's only right to give an update and report that all is back to normal. It was a week of angst, but now I'm a happy camper again.  I'm up and running and I saved my money...no computer medic paid for...no wiped out hard drive.

I decided to call Adobe tech support once more before taking it in on the chance that the technician I happened to get this time would be able to figure it out.  I had nothing to lose.

And that's exactly what happened.  Oh, at first, it looked as though this technician was going down the same path as the first...but wait...he finally took me into the computer's registry for a bit of cleaning.  That did it. Hooray!

I did have to reconstruct my photo catalog in Photoshop, which meant going through thousands of photos to tag and stack them.  But it was work I did with a smile. As long as that took, it was still better than having to start from square one.

And...in case you're wondering...I did buy Acronis True Image software and a portable external hard drive, and I did take a "picture" of my C-Drive...just in case.

Glad it all worked out. Isn't it amazing how our lives are so connected to this electronic box and how devastated we are if it doesn't work properly? I am reminded of back when we had party phone lines, one ring for us, two rings it was for the neighbor down the road.

I do remember them! We're showing our ages :-) Not only did we train ourselves to recognize which ring to answer, but we got used to the possibility of picking up the receiver and hearing someone talking. Then...we had to wait. Usually, the other party was considerate about that, but sometimes not. Funny to remember it all.

We recently installed the Acronis software after having our hard drive falter twice and losing some stuff. You also have a portable hard drive? I keep some stuff on my flash drive. It all seems to create more work than it should and it's a language I find hard to decipher.

I'm glad you went back and got to see the dancer change directions. I know many who thought they couldn't at first but then did. It feels good to exercise both sides.

June, I'm so glad you were able to get your computer woes taken care of. I know how vexing computer troubles can be.

By the way, thanks for your comments on my poem. It meant a lot to me.

Glad to hear you have that fixed. Computer troubles are sooo frustrating!
