Six Guilty Pleasures
My friend Colleen at Loose Leaf Notes tagged me to participate in this meme. I'm always flattered that someone wants to include me in these things...not to mention that I actually like thinking on them. I often verbally ask these sorts of questions to my friends. Call me nosy, but I'm fascinated in what people are about. So here I am on the other side of the questions.
Name six guilty pleasures no one would suspect you of having:
- Walking through graveyards. They tell me just enough of a story for me to fill in the blanks.
- Exploring unknown roads and places. I want to know who and what is out there besides me.
- Washing my face with Noxema. It's a cool and tingly feeling. When I was a kid I'd pretend it was shaving cream and mimic my father shaving his face - complete with mouth twists.
- Learning "how to" and "how come". I never have enough answers.
- Watching old movies. I study history by looking at them.
- Browsing in gadget stores. Kitchen, hardware, or tech...I usually get something I didn't know I needed.
Name six guilty pleasures you wish you had the courage to indulge:
- Scuba diving, going on a white water raft expedition, and hiking a trail that would take me to a really spectacular view.
- Dancing at the Friday Night Jamboree.
- Learning to play a violin / fiddle.
- Getting a different and funky hair style.
- Traveling to Africa and the Far East.
- Going to a black Southern Baptist church. I want to feel IT.
Name six guilty pleasures you once considered guilty but you now have either abandoned or made peace with:
- Eating carbs. There's no getting around it. I can't live without them.
- Watching a drag show. They're the ultimate in "hoot" entertainment, but the days of my going to bars have waned.
- Singing in the mirror with a hairbrush microphone. I've since graduated to dancing around the house when some 50s-60s music is on. I grab Shaynee for my partner.
- Blogging. It's about the writing. My blog is merely a convenient, interactive, and fun...medium.
- Calling in sick when I wasn't. I didn't do this very often, but when I did I called it a "mental health day" and took care of me by doing anything, everything, or nothing. I've abandoned it because it's a built in perk of retirement.
- Being a "Murder She Wrote" junkie. There's just something about Angela that calls me.
Post Notes:
I'm hoping Beth, Susan, Sandy, and BlueMountainMama don't mind being tagged here, and anyone else who feels inclined to give it a go, please do. I'm always interested in the "inners" of others. Let me know if you participate so I can come read your answers. Have fun!

Great lists, June! I have a feeling that someday, you'll have the courage to indulge some of those on your second list. :)
Part of my morning ritual is washing my face with Noxema. That cool tingle wakes up me and my face both!
Thanks for tagging me--I'll probably do it next week if that's OK. (The next few days are going to be a little hectic).

I enjoyed reading these a lot - and share a few of them with you (e.g. walking through graveyards, and the desire to go white water rafting and play the fiddle!)
Thanks for sharing :)

I hope you find the courage to indulge in some of those pleasures you've not yet tried. Number 6 in particiular I think you would find inspirational.

Oh dear ... June, I have tagged you also but for a different meme! I am glad you like doing them. This is a small one but I am interested in your response! I enjoyed reading your answers to this one.
BTW, I got certified for SCUBA when I was 50 after being chicken to try it for more years than I can remember. I loved Sea Hunt when I was a kid! lol

You know I LOVE to dance, but also haven't gotten the courage to flat foot. I just don't get it. I'm so used to using my whole body. I also feel the same on the punk hair do. I want something spiky and funky but I'm afraid I won't like it after all. I've never even had short hair.
