A Year's Worth Of Living

Janus1_2

As is the custom, I'm doing a bit of reflecting as the old year draws to its close and the new one is about to embark.

The year proved to be incredibly event-full and meaning-full for me. There were sad times...most notably, the death of two good friends...and bad times...but mostly, the year brought good times and good things. I log some of them here in gratitude.

  • First and foremost, I was given another year of good health and abundance.

  • With the exception of the two friends noted above, those I love were healthy and, as best I can tell, their lives full.

  • I continued my good luck of landing on my feet...even when I tripped over them breaking/dislocating my shoulder.

  • My wanderlust was well fed and satisfied.  In addition to some "local trips", I traveled to Arizona, San Francisco, and the Eastern Shore.

  • I had good and long awaited visits with dear, longtime friends and met new ones.

  • I set down some new roots in Floyd.

  • I rekindled my creative spirit and began writing again. I also jumped more fervently into photography. Doing so has made all the difference.  June has come back out to play!

  • I dared to expand my universe and in doing, dared to expose my "self" to others.

  • I followed through on my intention to volunteer.

  • I made progress on internal growth.  I'm not where I want to be, but I'm going in the right direction!

To all of you who helped these things happen, thank you.

Hi June,

Reflecting is good for the soul and blogging is a good way to spread your goodness. Sorry to hear you lost two friends this year, that would be very difficult.

You commented on my site about wanting to learn how to create your very own look on your blog. I had a look at your source page and although I'd love to help you, I have little or no knowledge of how typepad works. I have spend years learning and then forgetting what I've learned, but I will say Blogger is extremely user friendly and I have had help along the way from various folks who are very knowledgeable about Blogger, not sure if they could help with typepad guestions or not.

My learning process was slow, and I took some risks, which had me spending hours trying to figure things out and get things back to square one. My advice is to always, always backup and then just go play with you code. There's a lot of trial and error involved for me still, but I enjoy it. It will take me an entire day to create a new look on my site, I went deeper than just changing the photo header this time.

If I come across a typepad geek, I'll send you their way.

Happy New Year blogger friend!

June, I'm sorry to hear of your friends' passing. I know you must miss them.
But I'm so glad you had such a full and satisfying year. I, for one, am so glad you decided to get back to writing and taking pictures--I have certainly enjoyed the fruits of that! Best wishes for a rich and full year in 2008.

It is good to reflect on our lives but how often do we neglect to take the time to do it? I am overdue to do this I think!

Have a wonderful new year June, becoming who you are meant to be!

Happy New Years!

Thanks everyone...I certainly was including you all when I referred to meeting new friends!

I hope that the upcoming year is full of joy for you. I am sorry about your friends. They will always be with you as long as you keep their memories close.

June, it sounds like you've had a very positive and productive year. I'm impressed and inspired :)

It's hard to lose friends and loved ones, and rarely a year goes by when it doesn't happen to us, especially as we get older. I'm sure you have many good memories of your friends.

I've enjoyed meeting you this year, and look forward to reading/seeing more about your creative pursuits in 2008!
