Interesting that the chimney has stood the test of time! Terrific shot, of course! I love stuff like this...

Oh... I meant to add that I am absolutely sure your work in the correctional system made a difference!

Cool photo. It really looks like a memorial rather than a ruined home. Thanks for visiting mine and have a great weekend!

I've been here, too. An eerie sensation... Good choice, June.
I love the texture of "ruined." Stop by if you can:

I wouldn't have notice the ruin if not for the story you attached to it, I though it was some kind of monument! The photo looks great especially the contrast of colors

That's a beautiful shot. It doesn't even look ruined but is perfect for the theme. Thanks for visiting us at Snap2Days and also for your visit to my site.

It's a very "clean" ruin and love the surroundings. Pretty shot for the theme.

When I was doing research before posting the YouTube video of "The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down", sung by Joan Baez, on my blog, I discovered that the song was written about events that took place during the Siege of Petersburg. Interesting. I never got into the history of the Civil War - it seems such a daunting subject! What? 10,000 books on the subject? Sheesh!!

The house is ruined but I must say I am amazed at the good condition of the brick, for being so old. Amazing!
I did Photo Hunt today, too. I hope you get a chance to visit and leave your link!

Amazing how the whole house is ruined and that chimney remained intact? Very nice find, thanks for sharing the history of it!

Interesting quote at the end.

That ruin looks really wel kept. Your little saying makes me sad. Times flies by too fast!

It's kind of amazing that the remains have remained after all this time.

I love exploring ruins like that, makes me think of days gone by and all that most likely happened there. Beautiful!

The parts left all seem so perfectly intact. Beautiful photo. Great choice for this week's theme.

Hum... that is the neatest (as in most orderly) ruin I've seen so far. Have they restored it?

Fascinating picture with just the foundation in place.
