My restored phone service was short lived. Woke up to find my phone line dead again. Now it will be a week before ATT sends someone out. A week! They didn't seem to care about 911 emergencies that could happen in the interim. Pointing out our possibly leaving ATT didn't seem to phase them either. There's definitely something wrong with this picture!
While here at Whole Foods I've looked at Verizon plans that would have enough minutes to use as a way to replace ATT service. I never had wanted to give up phone service with a line before because of tower outages during hurricanes. But now that we're not here during hurricanes, it's something I might now consider.
It'll be interesting to see if I get DSL/internet Monday with the new modem that I've purchased. Sure hope so...a week without phone service is one thing, but a week without internet...oh noooooooooo!

We have our telephone (landline), internet, and cable all packaged together and it works beautifully. I would drop my landline in a cold New York minutes except that my husband does not want a cell phone. Oh well, I guess we will always have both then. But I know many people who simply do not have landlines anymore. If you don't think you need it, then fiscally, getting rid of it is the smart thing to do.
Good luck,
Annie

I could save a lot of money by choosing one of the packages being offered nowadays, but my old landline internet connection works! so why change it? I am afraid to be left without internet for weeks if I decide to make a smart move. But this is Spain...
Good luck to you!!

I am pretty sure there is no such thing as customer service any more. So sorry you're having problems.

Yea, AT&T is a miserable company, both for the customer and the employee. You might try investigating something called "dry DSL" - it is DSL without a phone line. You get phone service through Skype or Vonage or some other voice over IP service provider. I've heard that there is a device you can purchase for $200 that enables you to have "free" land line service thereafter - Vonage and Skype charge a monthly fee. Is Citizens and Floyd looking better and better??
The next time you call AT&T, threaten to file a complaint with the Public Service Commission - that will get their attention, believe me!!
