New Neighbors

Last week we put up a new bird box...decorated by my good friend Leta when she visited last fall...and moved one of our original boxes next to it.  Having two boxes so close is supposed to encourage swallows to move in one and bluebirds into the other.  Well, the tree swallows have done their part.  They've staked out Leta's box and have begun building a nest.  I'd have picked that one too...it's so pretty. 

They've been really busy...

 

 

We now have tree swallows in three nesting boxes.  They seem to like the neighborhood...and we certainly like them!

that is pretty cool and all -- about your new neighbors. And that IS a beautiful bird house. When my sister was in rehab, she made me a very nice bird house. i have to figure out a way to hang it on the fire escape (which isn't really allowed). it'll be interesting to see if any birds visit it.
