There's nothing special about this photo, but there is something special about this bridge. It's the Walnut Street Bridge in Chattanooga, Tennessee. It was built in 1890 to connect the city's downtown with the North Shore and did so until 1978 when it was deemed unsafe. It sat there for nearly a decade, but when it was going to be torn down local citizens convinced the city to commit the funds earmarked for the bridge's demolition to its restoration, providing the balance of the renovation cost could be raised. And it was. It's now one of the longest pedestrian bridges in the world and provides for not only a beautiful stroll to and from the now thriving North Shore District...but also a gathering place for people to enjoy events on and around the Tennessee River.

Post Note
A few of you have already seen this post. It was prematurely published a week or so ago. I was lining some posts up ahead of time since early February will be a busy time and guess I forgot to enter the right date. Sorry for the re-run.
